Barrie Box kicks of Highwood's 2025 market season

May 7, 2025 Colin Bate

Sunday May the 4th saw the first of our markets for this year. We spent the day at the lovely Barrie Box, a local farm shop which hosts a regular market. This was a first for us, having attended many, but not this market before. Our first market attendance was in 2023 when we made the decision to attend our local Alyth market, as a way of selling some of our smaller items, as well as having the opportunity to chat with people in our local community.

What have we learned in this time?

  • We love chatting with people about their love for wood and furniture

  • Preparing for, and manning a market stall is a great way for us to spend time together and have time to think through plans for products and designs

  • Markets will never make us rich, but despite that they’ve become a much loved part of how we operate as a business

Come and see us this year at:

  • 14th June - Alyth Show

  • 5-7th July - Scottish Game Fair, Scone Palace

  • 20th July - Barrie Box

  • 26th July - Alyth Summer Market

  • 1-2nd August - Perth Show

  • 7th September - Blairgowrie and Rattray Highland Games

At each market we will have a small number of display pieces of furniture, as well as a range of items for sale. These items will include but are not limited to, cheeseboards, coffee scoops, bottle openers, boxes, clocks, plant hangers, and jewellery.

For further information in anything in our blogs feel free to get in touch.
